There are numerous link shorteners available, each with its unique features and pricing structures. Some popular options include Bitly, Rebrandly, and TinyURL.
Do your research and select the one that best fits your needs and budget.
Create Your Shortened URL
In this example, we are creating a link for a ClickBank product. Once you've found an offer, click on "Promote" and sign in or input a random nickname.
Add a Tracking ID (Optional)
You can add a tracking ID relevant to where you'll be promoting the offer, such as "FB" for Facebook, "YT" for YouTube, or "email" for your mailing list.
This helps you identify where clicks are coming from in the future. The last thing you want is to have a disorganized business with hundreds of links that you can't even tell what is what.
Create a Hop Link
Click on "Create Hop Link" and then copy the generated URL, which will look something like this: https://www.clickbank.net/affiliate=nickname&vendor=XYZXYZXYZ&tid=trackingID
. This is a long and unattractive URL, which we want to shorten.
Use Pretty Links
Head over to Pretty Links and paste the long URL into the provided field. Create an alias that's similar to the offer you're promoting, such as "soulmatesketch" or "getyoursketch." If your desired alias is taken, try variations until you find one that works.
Keep it under the character limits
Each social media platform has a specific character limit for posts. For example, Twitter has a 280-character limit, while Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn have more extended limits. Make sure your shortened URL fits within these constraints while leaving enough space for your accompanying message and any necessary hashtags or mentions.
Aim for 10-20 characters
As a general rule, it's best to aim for a shortened URL length of 10-20 characters. This provides a balance between readability and ease of sharing, while still maintaining a clean, professional appearance.
For example: downloadyourfile.com sounds better than clickheretodownyourfileintoyourharddrive.com
It's simple and easy to remember
Preserve brand and keyword information: While it's essential to keep your URL short, make sure the URL kinda say what the visitor is going to expect.
A custom shortened URL should still convey your brand identity and give users an idea of the content they'll find when clicking on the link.
Test the Shortened Link
Copy the new shortened link, open it in a new tab, and ensure that it redirects correctly to the offer page before posting
Add Shortened URL into Your Social Media Posts
Now that you have your shortened URL, use it in your social media campaigns to drive engagement and track results. Make sure to include a compelling call-to-action (CTA) to entice users to click on your link.
This works for Facebook, Youtube, LinkTree, Instagram, Tiktok and other platforms.
Be aware these platforms' terms of service.
Monitor Your Campaign Performance
Utilize the analytics provided by your link shortener to monitor your campaign's performance. This works if you are running an affiliate offers from Clickbank, JVzoo or other affiliate networks.
