Adding an affiliate tracking code to your website is an important step in setting up an affiliate program. It allows you to track referrals and conversions from your affiliate partners, and ultimately, helps you to pay them their commissions.

In this guide, I will provide instructions for adding affiliate tracking codes for six major affiliate networks: Amazon, Avantlink, CJ, ShareASale, Rakuten Marketing, and Impact.

Adding Affiliate Linking Tracking Code

Before posting the link to a website, the tracking code is actually generated on the affiliate network. Not on the website.

However, there are third parties software that can cloak the links and set tracking id. Some affiliate programs allow them and some don't

Amazon Associates

Amazon Associates To add the Amazon Associates tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Amazon Associates account.
  • Click on the "Product Linking" tab, then select "Product Links".
  • Search for the product you want to link to, then click "Get Link".
  • Select your link type (text and image, image only, text only, or custom) and customize your link if necessary.
  • Copy the HTML code for your link and paste it into your website where you want the link to appear.

Be sure to always to use affiliate links provided by Amazon. Do not cloak Amazon links, which will violate the Amazon Associates terms of service.

Avantlink

Avantlink To add the Avantlink tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Avantlink account.
  • Click on "Tools" in the top menu, then select "Conversion Tracking".
  • Click on "Create New Conversion Code".
  • Enter a name for your conversion code and select the tracking method (JavaScript, Image, or Postback).
  • Follow the instructions for the selected tracking method and copy the code provided.
  • Paste the code into your website where you want the conversion tracking to occur.

ClickBank 

To add the ClickBank tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your ClickBank account.
  2. Click on "Marketplace" in the top menu, then search for the product you want to promote and click "Promote".
  3. Customize your HopLink Target URL if necessary (this is the URL that your affiliate link will redirect to), then click "Generate HopLinks".
  4. Select the type of link you want (HTML, image, or text) and copy the code provided.
  5. Paste the HTML code for your link into your website where you want the link to appear.

It's important to note that ClickBank also offers advanced tracking options, including custom tracking IDs and SubIDs, as well as conversion tracking and reporting. You can access these features by navigating to the "Account Settings" and "My Site" sections of your ClickBank account.

Commission Junction

CJ (Commission Junction) To add the CJ tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your CJ account.
  • Click on "Links" in the top menu, then select "Get Links".
  • Search for the advertiser or product you want to promote and click "Get HTML".
  • Choose the type of link you want (text, image, or both) and customize it if necessary.
  • Copy the HTML code for your link and paste it into your website where you want the link to appear.

ShareASale

ShareASale To add the ShareASale tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your ShareASale account.
  • Click on "Links" in the top menu, then select "Get a Link/Banner".
  • Search for the advertiser or product you want to promote and click "Get HTML Code".
  • Choose the type of link you want (text, image, or both) and customize it if necessary.
  • Copy the HTML code for your link and paste it into your website where you want the link to appear.

Rakuten Marketing

Rakuten Marketing To add the Rakuten Marketing tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Rakuten Marketing account.
  • Click on "Links" in the top menu, then select "Get Links".
  • Search for the advertiser or product you want to promote and click "Get Code".
  • Choose the type of link you want (text, image, or both) and customize it if necessary.
  • Copy the HTML code for your link and paste it into your website where you want the link to appear.

Impact

Impact To add the Impact tracking code to your website, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Impact account.
  • Click on "Campaigns" in the top menu, then select the campaign you want to get tracking code for.
  • Click on "Tracking" in the left menu, then select "Pixels".
  • Click on "Create Pixel" and select the type of tracking pixel you want to create (Image or Script).
  • Customize your tracking pixel as needed and copy the code provided.
  • Paste the code into your website where you want the conversion tracking to occur.

Users can also copy and paste the product URL and generate the affiliate link with tracking code.
